Ellen Tzakis has tendered her resignation from Town Council, marking the second councillor to step down since the 2018 election.
“I have resigned from my position as Councillor for the Town of Creston as of today, May 10th, due to health reasons, I am needing to address my well being of myself,” Tzakis told MyCrestonNow. “I thank the Town of Creston for opportunities and experience during my time as Councillor. I am grateful to have represented and to have had the support of the citizens of Creston.”
Creston Emergency Services Building budget increased to $7 million

The Town of Creston’s new Emergency Services Building (CESB) will have a bigger price tag.
In a Committee of the Whole Meeting held on Wednesday, February 24th, Council was presented with an increase in the budget for the structure that will house BC Ambulance and Creston Fire Rescue from $5.4 million to $7 million.
This comes after the tendering process produced only two bids last summer, both far exceeding the proposed cost by almost double.
As a result, design changes were made to further reduce spending. Firewise Consulting Director Ernie Polsom shared with the Technical Building Advisory Committee (TBAC) the stark reality of where the CESB project currently sits.
Town of Creston offers aid to businesses amid COVID-19 costs

A new program has been passed by Town of Creston Council to help local businesses deal with added operating costs due to measures enacted by the Public Health Officer.
The Community Health Initiative Program (CHIP) will provide a free 2021 business licence as well as an initial donation of signage, disposable masks and hand sanitizer to any business who chooses to participate.
