After weeks of hard work and preparation, Debra Donaldson and her Global Water Dances team are ready to perform for the world. Seven dancers from Gananoque and Kingston will be participating as they dance about their concerns about local water issues.
“People can watch the dances on June 12 at 10:30 a.m. on (the) Facebook Live on the Global Water Dances Gananoque 2021 page. If restrictions are lifted, then it will be 10:30 a.m. at the 1,000 Islands History Museum,” said Donaldson. “I would say about half of the team have had previous dance experience. “The choreography really worked for all of us. Our Water Ritual, which is our first dance honouring water, was choreographed with ideas from all. The second dance which I choreographed has evolved because of having to do and learn on Zoom and then to transition safely to being together.

The Gananoque Public Library is calling all local area Grade 7 – 12 students to share their COVID 19 pandemic experiences, in the form of a writing contest.
“The contest idea came from our library’s current board of directors,” Pam Hudson, of the Gananoque Public Library, said. “On that board of directors, we have a youth representative who attends our local high school. She’s a bright, intelligent and talented young woman and was asked if she could develop the contest plan – one that would inspire young people to write
