We treasure our loons here in Minnesota. They’re our official state bird, after all. They’re a feast for our eyes as we take in their impressive size, striking black and white feathers and their piercing crimson-red yes. Their beautiful, haunting calls echoing from our many lakes and rivers can make us stop what we’re doing and listen intently.
But what if our beloved loons went bad? What if they took a dark turn? What if they…went on the attack and targeted humans on a northwestern Minnesota lake?

June Shaver estate gives largest gift so far to seven organizations

The estate of June Shaver continues to give back with another round of donations - this year topping all the rest. A total of $106,302 were announced for distribution Tuesday, the largest annual gift so far, and seven organizations benefited.
“Three of the last four years have had gifts over $100,000,” Dave Aamoth of Edward Jones told the Times. “The total that has come out is up to $572,000.”
The organizations receiving money include Care and Share of Crookston, Crookston Community Theatre, Pirates Athletics Boosters, Pirates Fine Arts Boosters, Crookston High School Drama Club, CHS Health Care Scholarship and RiverView Health Foundation.

Crookston Community Theatre s 2017 A Christmas Carol to be re-broadcast on KROX
It will be aired twice, on Dec. 18 from 5 to 6 p.m. and Dec. 22 from 1 to 2 p.m.

Crookston Community Theatre’s old-fashioned radio production of “A Christmas Carol,” which they performed in 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church, will be rebroadcast this holiday season on KROX Radio on two separate occasions. The first rebroadcast will be on Friday, Dec. 18 from 5 to 6 p.m. and the second will be on Tuesday, Dec. 22 from 1 to 2 p.m.
“My hope this year was to give everyone a reason to take a break from these chaotic days and have a chance to chill out for a while,” CCT’s Colleen MacRae tells the Times.
