Historic house: Corry woman shares home revival, history via Instagram

CORRY The home at 47 E. Smith St. was appealing to Mandi Johnson long before she and her family moved in.  Johnson, who grew up in Corry, loved the big old houses in town, and after she and her husband, Scott, moved to Clymer, New York, she longed to return. She kept a close watch on the real estate market in her hometown.  “I always wanted to move back, and in 2018, an opportunity came up to make a move,” she said in a phone interview. “We saw the listing, and it had been on and off the market for four of five years.”

Democratic Party committee won t endorse Joe Schember for 2nd term

With little more than a month to go before the May 18 primary, Erie Mayor Joe Schember might have a bit of fence-mending to do. When the local Democratic Party committee members met last week, they voted not to endorse Schember for a second term. He will still be heavily favored to retain the nomination, but it shows that the committee is composed of independent thinkers. That’s actually good for the party. Meg Loncharic: Hagen History Center inviting the community to A Night at the Museum Erie Times-News For the past three years, there have been preparations for a new day at the Hagen History Center, according to a statement from the organization. In addition, a national exhibit, which will be unveiled this summer, will make the Hagen History Center a major tourist destination.

Some COVID-induced product shortages likely to continue in 2021

Many of the shortages linked to the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic are now a memory. You might not find your favorite brand of toilet paper on a given visit to the store, but chances are good that you will find toilet paper, and paper towels, too. But some of the patterns of 2020 especially those apparent during the active warm-weather months   seem destined to repeat themselves as we look ahead to another summer shaped in part by restrictions and increased demand. Here is an incomplete but hopefully representative look at a few household-focused items that were hard to come by in 2020 and a look at the prospects for the year ahead.
