Bucyrus, OH – The third week of July will be here soon and the Crawford County Senior Fair Board can’t wait for everyone to come out and enjoy the fair. The 164th Annual Crawford County Fair will run July 19th – 24th and the theme this year is “American flair at our fair.” To support local efforts to provide COVID-19 vaccine, the fair board has provided Crawford County Public Health with 100 one-day passes to distribute to people that get a COVID-19 vaccine between May 17 – 21, 2021.
Rebecca Miller, Crawford County Fair Secretary/Manager proposed the idea of thanking people that get vaccinated before attending the fair this summer. “Supporting efforts geared at ending the pandemic and getting our lives back to normal just makes sense. We want people to be able to gather together to enjoy the events in our grandstands and barns. The welcome mat is out in many rural Ohio communities for any eligible state resident in search of the COVID-19 vaccine, and in recent days some of these sites have reported vaccinating people from as far away as Summit and Cuyahoga counties.
The bump in travelers heading down Interstate 71 and other highways and byways follows Gov. Mike DeWine s order expanding vaccine eligibility restriction to Ohioans 50 years and older, along with those who have Type 2 diabetes or end-stage renal disease, several rural health departments reported seeing out-of-towners schedule shots.
Last week, Crawford County Health Commissioner Kate Siefert reached out to the local tourism bureau and asked if it would mind setting up a Happy Vaccination Day display advertising Bucyrus to out-of-towners and offering coupons to local restaurants.
