Increased funding to working capital grants program will help prevent bankruptcies - PM Karins 2021-02-18 Photo: Saeima RIGA - Increased funding to the working capital grants program will enable businesses to avoid bankruptcies, Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins (New Unity) said at the government meeting Thursday.  The government has endorsed the Economics Ministry s proposal to increase the amount of funds available under the working capital grants program more than fourfold up to EUR 310.8 million. Karins pointed out that his Cabinet is sometimes criticized for not providing sufficient support to businesses but today s decision proves the opposite. This support will help prevent many companies from going bankrupt and will enable them to resume operations as soon as the situation permits, the prime minster said.

New national industrial policy aims to increase export to EUR 27 billion in seven years 2021-02-11 LETA/TBT Staff RIGA - The Cabinet of Ministers on Thursday approved the National Industrial Policy Guidelines for 2021-2027 developed by the Economics Ministry, hoping to increase exports to EUR 27 billion  by 2027. The guidelines cover all national economic sectors and states economic growth goals and directions for the coming seven years. The goal is to increase the export volume to EUR 22 billion in 2023 and to EUR 27 billion in 2027. In order to achieve this ambitious export goal, investments in new product development should be increased, the ministry said.
