Elizabethton line replacement comes in on time, under budget
ELIZABETHTON â Elizabethtonâs City Council usually hear reports of construction project cost overruns and delays, but a small water project is being completed in the city and the Water Resources staff is reporting that it was completed on time and under budget.
Not only that, but it increased the length of water lines being replaced and even found some old leaky water lines that were not known or mapped. The customers of those old lines were also placed on the new line.
Johann Coetzee, director of the Elizabethton Water Resources Department, said the project was funded by a community development block grant and was intended to replace 5,500 feet of old leaky 2-inch water lines in three different sections of town where the lines were especially in need of replacement. The streets where the replacements were made included: Bryant Avenue, Glenview Circle, East C Street, North East Street, Watauga Drive, Race Stree
