Summer may not officially begin until June 20, but pool season is already here in Arizona. Grab the bathing suit, towels, sunscreen, and pool toys because the community pools around the Valley are open or opening soon.

Metro Phoenix residents who own pools might have heard rumblings of a chlorine shortage.
That chlorine tablet shortage is here now, and maintaining your backyard oasis will be more expensive than usual this summer.
Ann Everhart of Ever-Klear Pool Supply in Phoenix said pool owners can expect a “significant price increase” in chlorine tablets.
“It’s not a 100% increase (in price) yet, but we’re getting close to it,” she said.
Everhart has seen some customers panic a little, but she is not too concerned about her supply. She is, however, among the local businesses limiting how many chlorine tablets customers can buy at once.

PHOENIX â With temperatures forecast to be in the upper 90s most of the weekend with the potential to reach 100 degrees for the first time this year on Saturday some may be looking for ways to beat the heat, whether that s at the water park or indoors where it s air-conditioned.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has said people should continue to avoid large gatherings and wear a mask when unable to socially distance themselves. Masks are not recommended when swimming or in water. There is also no evidence that the COVID-19 virus can transfer via a swimming pool, hot tub, beach or lake, according to the CDC.
