The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team came up short in a 3-0 loss at Newberry on Wednesday evening. With the loss, the Bears drop under .500 on the season.
Lenoir-Rhyne was held to a .178 hitting percentage, while the Wolves hit .259 as a squad including a .405 clip in the first set.
Newberry had 11 service aces in the contest and held the Bears to just two.
Rachel Bewick led Lenoir-Rhyne with 13 digs. Parkley Hennings and Rachel Delcamp also finished in double figures with 10 kills each.

Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Sweeps UVa-Wise
On a Saturday afternoon inside Shuford Gymnasium, the Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team swept UVA Wise, winning 25-16, 25-13 and 25-16 to get back to .500 on the season.
The Bears hit .320 as a team and held the Cavaliers to just an .014 hitting percentage. LR held a 44-16 advantage in kills and a 10-3 edge in aces.
Taylor Walton led a balanced attack with 10 kills and Colette Romp added nine.
Braelyn Faust finished with eight kills on the afternoon. Faust entered the contest fifth in the SAC with 1.1 block per set

Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Wins Season Opener

In their first game in 464 days, the Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team defeated Tusculum 3-0 to open the season. Despite being hired more than a year ago, Coach Shannon Hudson finally got to coach her first career match at LR and earned the victory.
Taylor Prall led the Bears with 13 kills. With her 13 kills, Prall is now 41 away for 1,000 on her career. The senior added 12 digs for a double-double.
Ashley Hawkins and Colette Romp each added seven kills. For Hawkins, it was her first career start at outside hitter after playing her first two seasons as a libero.
