A visit to Colorado as a party of one

Salem resident Bill Georato took off on a planned vacation and came home with the beginnings of a great travel book,
Colorado: Diary of a Solo Traveler.
“I love to travel and this book is the true story of my bus trip across Colorado,” said Georato. “It was a guided AAA group tour through Collette Travel, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to explore the majesty of the Rocky Mountains, the spectacular canyons, cliff dwellings and gorges.”
Luckily for Georato his trip pre-dated the restrictions in force in the parks related to raging fires and COVID-19.

JOHNSTOWN The Johnstown Senior Citizens Center is open and coping with the COVID-19 pandemic, and has planned events to start the new year.
In her monthly report Monday to the Common Council, center Executive Director Diedrie Roemer said the center “remains open for our members who want to come in and socialize or participate in one of our exercise classes.” Those classes include Chair Yoga, Yoga, Light Stretch, and Head to Toe.
“The Painting Class welcomes you to join in and see how talented and creative you might be,” Roemer said. “The beautiful artwork done by our members is hanging in the dining room and is admired by everyone coming in.”

Three past-due bills, $85 each: That’s what Floridalma gets to worry about today. It’s a good thing, a sign of progress. It means her family’s fundamental needs health, food, shelter have been met for the moment.
On this day, a wet, warm, transitional one as summer blends to fall, Floridalma and her ten-year-old son, Alexis clad in green-rimmed eyeglasses and a face mask decorated with trucks bound down the steps from their first-floor apartment and head to nearby Jenks Park. They pass an oval-shaped patch of dusty earth flanked by three play structures and follow the path toward Cogswell Tower, a stunning century-old monument with four clock faces looming over every corner of Central Falls.
