Two Jacksonville Walmart Supercenters have a new look following renovations designed to add “a fresh feel” and “simplified shopping experience.” The stores at 7075 Collins Road in West Jacksonville and at 10251 Shops Lane in The Avenues area are the first in the area to see changes.  Walmart said in a news release May 12 the renovations added new signage, fixtures and lighting; additional self-checkout lanes; new flooring; remodeled bathrooms and expanded grocery pickup areas. Walmart also renovated its electronics section and revamped the tool area with additional merchandise. “With a completely new look and feel, shopping with us has never been easier and faster,” said Sara Chenoweth, a Jacksonville-area store manager, in the release.

A sixth Walmart Health clinic is in review for Northeast Florida. Plans show the city is reviewing a permit application for construction of a 6,510-square-foot clinic within the 203,658-square-foot Walmart Supercenter at 12100 Lem Turner Road at a cost of $350,000. Walmart Real Estate Business Trust is listed as the owner of the property, which is near Interstate 295 in Northwest Jacksonville. No contractor is listed. Massa Multimedia Architecture of Neptune, New Jersey, is shown as the architect. Property records show Walmart built the store in 1994. Bentonville, Arkansas-based Walmart wants to open seven health clinics in Northeast Florida. The city recently issued a permit for construction of the first in Duval County.

The city issued permits Feb. 10 for FMGI Inc. of Woodstock, Georgia, to renovate the two stores. The Collins Plaza store at 7075 Collins Road will be remodeled at a cost of $2.8 million. The 211,850-square-foot store was built in 2009.  The Avenues store at 10251 Shops Lane will be renovated in a $1.5 million project. The 192,861-square-foot store was developed in 2016. (Google) BusinessInsider.com reported Sept. 30 that the Arkansas-based retailer would remodel 200 of its Supercenters by the end of 2020 to encourage a more “digitally-enabled shopping experience” featuring bolder signage, contactless checkout, and airport-inspired crowd management techniques, according to Walmart Chief Customer Officer Janey Whiteside.
