Police Said Shooter At Skyzoo Parking Lot Declined Fist Fight; Pulled Gun And Told Man You re Gonna Die Friday, June 4, 2021 Police said a murder outside the Skyzoo bar on Lee Highway came after a heated argument between two men over a woman that they both had a relationship with.   Police said Eric Charles Grant, II, 32, challenged Kristijian Mrkonjic to a fight, but Mrkonjic told him, Nah, m - f -, you re gonna die. He then pulled a pistol out of his waistband and shot Grant and a man who was with him, 45-year-old Marking Vaughn, multiple times. Grant died after being taken to a hospital.

Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart County will be breaking ground on a new home on Wednesday at 4 p.m. The groundbreaking will be on Belmont Avenue in Elkhart for the Harris family, with community partners Winnebago Industries and Dometic. The owner of the home, Courtney Harris applied to Habitat’s homeownership program in the fall of 2020 and got accepted in December. Harris recently graduated from college and has a 6-year-old daughter. Harris said “Becoming a homeowner is something I can be forever proud of. It will provide me with more opportunities to accomplish my goals without having to worry about the ability to afford a decent and safe place for my daughter to live.”

At 1:30 p.m., she had to be at the Pearl District bar River Pig with sheet trays full of rice and peas, cabbage, and Jamaican beef patties for her 2 p.m. pop-up, Miss Winnie’s Kitchen. The kitchen at River Pig was too small to accommodate all the cooking she had to do, and she needed to share it with the bar’s current staff; she had no idea where to cook now. She started frantically calling the owner of the space and her coworkers, but no one had woken up. It was time to think on her feet.
