A local Dundalk business has exceeded all expectations by winning a prestigious award at the World Food Innovation Awards despite only being in existence for less than a year.
The awards are a celebration of innovation and excellence across every category of the global food industry and are a fantastic way for firms to enhance the promotion of their brand, ensuring it gains global recognition with the Best Global start-up gong going to Dr Conor Kerley and Phytaphix.

Conor Kerley has had a keen interest in health and nutrition after his multiple sclerosis diagnosis as a teenager, since then he has gone on to earn many qualifications and accolades in nutrition and dietetics.
When the country disappeared into our own homes a year ago Kerley was in the middle of research and development on some products in the areas of blood pressure and blood sugar but the pandemic put paid to the clinical trials he had organised; he had to stall his plans and get creative.
Behind every number, there lies a human story. To date, some 176,839 cases of Covid have been identified in Ireland since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. 2,708 Irish people have lost their lives to the virus, and it is estimated that 23,364 Irish people have recovered from a diagnosis.
What was a mysterious and largely misunderstood virus has become an all-too familiar part of our lives. While many of us have talked about it in abstract terms, others have had a direct brush with the virus. And for those who have survived that, life looks very different now in 2021. We talked to some of them about their reviewed outlook on life.
