Amid rising numbers of new COVID-19 cases reported in the county, Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital has seen an increased number of patients with the virus, according to the hospital’s president and CEO, Dr. Brian Evans.
“What has happened throughout the pandemic is that an individual hospital like this will kind of fluctuate … so it’s a little easier to spot the trends when you start to spread out and look at multiple hospitals or a whole region,” said Evans on tracking the trend.
Evans said Monday that, as has been the case at other hospitals that Sierra Nevada Memorial partners with in the region, an increase in emergency room visits and hospital admissions related to COVID-19 had become notable during the preceding one to two weeks.

The Grass Valley Elks Lodge on Thursday opened Bistro 538, named after the lodge number, for its first day of drive-thru food sales.

FROM A PRESS RELEASE:
The ink hardly had time to dry on the escrow documents before Gold Country Senior Services’ long-awaited Senior Center became the new COVID-19 testing site.
“We recently closed escrow on the old Summer Thyme’s Bakery & Deli building in Grass Valley,” Executive Director Janeth Marroletti explained. “One week later we were collaborating with Nevada County staff to put part of the premises into use. A new COVID-19 testing site was needed, and this location fit the bill perfectly.”
While the County is renting the dining-room area for testing, renovation assessment continues in the kitchen, as GCSS prepares for the center’s future opening. Located at 231 Colfax Avenue, Grass Valley, this building is already serving Nevada County during a critical time.
