Hickory schools invite families to 'come home'

From staff reports The team at Hickory Public Schools isn’t waiting until school is out for the summer. The school district is already immersed in a campaign to capture the attention of families, reminding everyone that the fall semester begins for students Aug. 23. Over the past year, with the cloud of COVID-19 limiting in-person learning, the district has shifted the sails to a positive direction, navigating forward. The HPS teachers, staff and administrators are steering toward an exciting return to school. “Granted, we are just wrapping up the 2020-2021 school year with our last day and graduation ceremonies scheduled for this Friday, May 28, and our HPS Summer Learning Program is starting soon; but I’ve heard teachers, staff, and even students share their enthusiasm for the return to normal for the new school year,” said Beverly Snowden, HPS director of communications.

Lompoc Unified School District will be offering expanded learning this summer

Lompoc Unified School District will be offering expanded learning this summer KSBY stock image and last updated 2021-04-21 20:45:32-04 The Lompoc Unified School District (LUSD) will be offering students an opportunity to participate in expanded learning experiences starting this summer. In past summers, LUSD has offered in-person elective classes and enrichment, but now it’ll be available to more students and involves even more community partners. “The 2021 Summer Learning Program started as an idea, that turned into a Think Tank and has blossomed into a hands-on, camp style summer learning program that not only takes into consideration the losses our students have experienced this past year, but also the thoughtful process our LUSD educators put into this,” said Katherine Wallace, LUSD Coordinator of Educational Services.
