Cinch I.T. received triple the amount of technology help requests it would typically get, with workers running into any number of challenges getting set up remotely. The timing was fortuitous for the company: It had already planned an expansion last year and was ready for the flood of help requests.
“Fortunately, it s been largely positive for us,” said Rick Porter, Cinch I.T.’s president. “Not that it s been easy.”
Porter, who started at Cinch I.T. in 2010 and bought the company five years later, had already helped develop a franchising plan last year to expand the company beyond New England.

In his role, Brian oversees the performance of all hourly employees, and also ensures the company operations prioritize safety, customer service, and growth. And because of how the business and industry operates, Brian also installs, project manages, quotes, designs and sells products.
But that’s far from all he does.
“Brian is always the guy where, no matter who you are, six degrees of separation, if you re a friend of a friend of a friend if there s something he can do in your time of need, he is going to do so right now,” his brother and co-worker Tim Glispin said.
The law firm Mirick O’Connell has always had a business focus, known for specialty areas including commercial lending, business litigation, employment and real estate. That means it’s been an especially busy past year, with attorneys guiding clients through a range of tricky questions.

First it was guidance on layoffs and furloughs as the coronavirus pandemic began. Then it was how to allow employees to work remotely, or how to manage new regulations on how many people could be inside a business at a given time. Now, it can be a matter of whether businesses can or should require employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19. The state’s new Paid Family and Medical Leave law went into effect with the start of the year, giving businesses something else to figure out.
