WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. – An opportune pit stop for Action Express Racing saw Felipe Nasr get into the Whelen-sponsored Cadillac in place of Pipo Derani just before a full-course caution flew. Shortly afterwards, lightning caused a red flag.  Immediately afterwards, Nasr got the lead in a round of pit stops and held on to win the WeatherTech 240 at the Glen Friday evening (July 2).
“When we started the race, we knew we had to do something different in order to beat the Acuras,” Derani said during the post-race press conference. “Coming in early was potentially in the plans, but in those situations, you never really know if it’s going to play out your way.” ....

For decades, the main consideration when it came to walls and fencing at NASCAR tracks was fan, and not driver, safety.
Perhaps inexplicably, NASCAR and its member tracks seemed satisfied with concrete walls until the death of Dale Earnhardt in the 2001 Daytona 500.

Mateo Llarena from Guatemala and Ayrton Ori, from nearby Orlando, Florida. Llarena is the older of the two teens; he celebrates his 17th birthday today, Feb. 26.
The pair drove as 16-year-olds in the Rolex 24 at Daytona in the No. 38 Performance Tech Motorsports Ligier JS P320 in the Le Mans Prototype 3 (LMP3) class.
Ori, who’s named after Formula 1 legend Ayrton Senna, sports a helmet modeled after another F1 great, James Hunt. ....

Five classes of cars will compete on track at the same time at the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona, January 30-31 at Daytona International Speedway.
The DPis have the drivers who may be the most familiar, including NASCAR seven-time Cup champion Jimmie Johnson, current NASCAR Cup champ Chase Elliott, perennial IndyCar champ Scott Dixon, and fresh-from-Formula 1 Kevin Magnussen.
GT Daytona is the largest class with 19 entries, which are easily confused with GTLM cars, but it’s easy to memorize the six GTLM cars. ....
