Memorial Day weekend might have rained on your summertime kickoff plans, but Mother Nature is making up for it in a big way this weekend.
That dreary, rainy weekend that doused barbecues and kept just-opened outdoor pools largely free of swimmers will be a distant meteorological memory as daytime highs climb into the upper 80s and low 90s this weekend.
So spray on the sunscreen, dust off those Puddle Jumpers and get ready for a glorious late-spring weekend with these tidbits in mind:
Hot and sunny with a chance of thunderstorms
Last weekend s all-day rain won t repeat itself, but the National Weather Service in Boulder is forecasting an up to 20% chance of thunderstorms Saturday, Sunday and Monday afternoons.
Recent weather in Pueblo has put a damper on outdoor activities as inches of rain and several bouts of hail came across the region in the past week.
Starting more than a week ago, Pueblo has seen near daily rainstorms that have released hail and flash floods across the region. Just between May 17 and 18, about 2-5 inches of rain, depending on location, were recorded across the county.
More rain, hail and lightening is in the forecast for Wednesday afternoon and into the weekend.
According to National Weather Service meteorologists, this is due to a high-level low-pressure system that has been stalled over the Rocky Mountains, and as of Wednesday was beginning to push past the region, just in time to stall over Kansas.
Today
A mix of clouds and sun during the morning will give way to cloudy skies this afternoon. A stray afternoon thunderstorm is possible. High around 70F. Winds SE at 10 to 15 mph..
Tonight
Some clouds this evening will give way to mainly clear skies overnight. Low near 45F. Winds NNW at 5 to 10 mph. Updated: May 14, 2021 @ 9:58 am
