Nancy Jean Clark EAST LIVERPOOL Nancy Jean Clark, of East Liverpool, passed away at her home Monday morning, May 3, 2021, with her family by her side following a lengthy illness. She was 77. Born in East Liverpool, she was a daughter of the late Charles D. “Chuck” and Betty J. Hamilton Hickman. A resident of the area most of her life, she was a member of the East Liverpool High School Class of 1961. She studied at the Humboldt Airline and Business Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota and attended Kent State University at East Liverpool. For 35 years, Nancy worked at the East Liverpool campus in various administrative assistant positions where she worked in the Dean’s office, the nursing school, the physical therapy department, and the library. She was a tireless worker on the annual Wall of Fame banquet and awards. In 2015, she was the recipient of the Friends of Kent State Award for her many years of dedicated service to the university. She retired in 2011.

Apr 21, 2021 EAST LIVERPOOL Monday afternoon, April 19, 2021, Rosemarie Ensinger went home to be with her Lord Jesus. Born April 1, 1930, Rosemarie was the seventh child of Emmett and Bertha Campbell Green. She graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1948, and married Kenneth Ensinger in 1951. Rosemarie and Kenneth spent fifty years together until Kenneth’s passing in 2001. Their two children are Stephen and Lisa Ensinger, both of East Liverpool. Rosemarie worked for Ohio Bell for more than thirty years in East Liverpool and Steubenville. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, a board member, choir member, Sunday School teacher, and she was a representative of the Nazarene Women’s Missionary Society. She currently attended Northside Community Church. She was a Telephone Pioneer member and served in several capacities for the East Liverpool school system, as a reading volunteer at LaCroft Elementary, a member of the PTA, and of the Kiwanis Scholar’s Commi

Apr 17, 2021 EAST LIVERPOOL John J. Ruble, of East Liverpool, passed away Friday morning, April 16, 2021, at Heritage Valley Beaver. He was 89. Born in Steubenville, June 1, 1931, he was a son of the late Louise I. Smith Myers and William H. Myers. A lifetime area resident, for 30 years he worked at the former Crucible Steel Company as an equipment operator until 1982. He then worked the next 22 years as the nightwatchman at Murray Trucking. A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Airforce for four years. A little league baseball manager where his teams won 10 consecutive little league championships. He also enjoyed gardening, both flowers and vegetables, and was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Above all things in life, he loved and adored his family.

Florence E. 'Flo' Calhoun | News, Sports, Jobs

Mar 9, 2021 EAST LIVERPOOL Longtime area resident Florence E. “Flo” Calhoun, of East Liverpool, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2021. She was 90. Born in Lorain, OH on December 6, 1930. Flo was graduated from Albion High School in Pennsylvania in 1949 and moved to East Liverpool with her family the following year. She began work at the former Acme Pottery in Wellsville, where she remained until 1960. When Hill’s Department Store opened its doors in 1964, Flo became a faithful employee until years later when she went to work for the Dream Shoppe in Chester and then in East Liverpool. Known throughout the area for her expertise in cookie baking, Flo taught many classes in cake decorating and candy making, and was well known for her beautiful wedding cakes and cookies. She took great joy in her creations until her Parkinson’s would not let her hold a knife to ice the cakes, but she was able to bake some of her grandchildren’s favorite sugar cookies.
