2. Major-General T.Y. Buratai – Chief of Army Staff
3. Rear Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas – Chief of Naval Staff
4. Air Vice Marshal Sadique Abubakar – Chief of Air Staff
5. Air Vice Marshal Monday Riku Morgan – Chief of Defence Intelligence
6. Major-General Babagana Monguno (rtd.) – National Security Adviser
The new Chief of Defence Staff, Maj.-Gen. Olonishakin (N/6901) hails from Ekiti State. Until his appointment as Chief of Defence Staff today, he was the Head of the Nigerian Army Training and Doctrine Command in Minna, Niger State.
The new Chief of Army Staff, Maj.-Gen. Buratai hails from Borno State. Until his new appointment today, he was the Commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force which has its headquarters in Ndjamena. Maj-Gen. Buratai has previously served as Commander of the Nigerian Army’s 2nd Brigade in Port

Nigerian Navy Hydrographic Research Ship, NNS LANA arrives Lagos

The new hydrographic and oceanographic research vessel, NNS LANA, procured by the Nigerian Navy, last month in France, arrived Lagos today, to join other navy’s ships in its fight against maritime illegalities in the nation’s maritime environment and its corridor in the Gulf of Guinea.
Speaking at the reception ceremony of NNS LANA, at NNS Beecroft parade ground, Apapa, Lagos, the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo, disclosed that the offshore vessel would also serve as a revenue generation source to the country and the Nigerian Navy, as it would enhance the capacity of the Service to conduct hydrographic surveys, to provide charting services for safe navigation as well as delivery of maritime security.

Nigerian Navy redeploys 257 rear admirals, commodores, others in major shake up

The Chief of Naval Staff, Awwal Gambo, has approved the redeployment of about 257 officers of the force, the Nation newspaper is reporting.
A statement by the Director of Information, Nigerian Navy, Suleiman Dahun, on Saturday, said the exercise followed the appointment of new service chiefs.
The Nigerian Army and Nigerian Air Force had announced similar redeployments earlier in the month.
Mr Dahun, a commodore, said 60 rear admirals, 123 commodores and 74 captains were affected by the redeployment.
