WR [Marquise Brown](https://www.baltimoreravens.com/team/players-roster/marquise-brown/) The similarities between Marquise Brown and Mark Clayton are impossible to miss. Both were star wide receivers for the Oklahoma Sooners. Both were drafted in the first round by the Ravens – Clayton at No. 22 overall in 2005 and Brown at No. 25 overall in 2019. Yup, quite similar. In his first two seasons in Baltimore, Clayton caught 111 passes for 1,410 yards and seven touchdowns. Brown, in his first two seasons, caught 104 passes for 1,353 yards and 15 touchdowns. Yup, quite similar. But now it s an unsettling comparison for the Ravens. Seemingly poised to take flight after two seasons, Clayton, instead, saw his production decline and never developed into a No. 1-caliber receiver. Although he amassed a respectable 234 receptions in five seasons in Baltimore, he eventually was traded. ....
Cowboys Legend Romo: Almost Played QB For Home-State Packers? The Green Bay Packers ignored one of their scouts when former Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo was brought up as a UDFA option. Author: May 1, 2021 FRISCO - The start to a successful NFL career can begin in many different ways. For some, they sit through the whole draft without ever hearing their name called. That was the case for Tony Romo, who signed with the Dallas Cowboys after going undrafted in 2003. Many teams had the chance to sign Romo in undrafted free agency but ultimately passed up on the chance. Former VP of the Packers Andrew Brandt recently shared some of his top NFL Draft stories. Among them was his undrafted free-agent story when one of the team s scouts identified Tony Romo but was ignored when he brought him up. ....
2021 NFL Draft Grades: How Did the Jets Do in the First Round? NFL Draft analysts have given out grades for the first round of 2021. I find this annual rite of passage a bit silly. Immediate grades tend to not hold up very well over the long haul. A player’s actual performance is all that matters. Still immediate grades are given. Just keep all of this in mind. You can clearly see why Draft grades are stupid.unless they praise the Jets. Now let’s get to the grades. The Jets fell in love with Wilson during the pre-draft process and I get it. There’s a lot of skills you see and imagine them translating to the NFL like Aaron Rodgers or Pat Mahomes, improvising, turning plays into jazz, and free-forming his way into eye-popping moments. Personally, I’m not nearly as high on Wilson. He played a lot of bad competition and threw too many 50/50 balls. I think this is a bigger risk than it needed to be, and the Jets are in dire need of “sure thing” superstar ....
2009: Broncos Trade 1st-Rounder for Alphonso Smith As a matter of principle, when an 8-8 team offers a future first-round selection for a second-rounder, you take it. The Seattle Seahawks sent the No. 37 pick in the 2009 draft to the Denver Broncos for their top choice in the 2010 draft. Smith lasted one season as a backup in Denver, while Seattle used that first-rounder on Earl Thomas, a three-time All-Pro safety who played a key role on the Super Bowl-winning 2013 team.
2016: 49ers Whiff on Josh Garnett, Miss Chris Jones In the 2016 draft, the San Francisco 49ers packaged the No. 37 selection with a fourth- and sixth-rounder for the No. 28 pick. They used it on Stanford guard Josh Garnett, who lasted only three years in San Francisco because of a few injury-plagued seasons. The Kansas City Chiefs spent the No. 37 pick on defensive tackle Chris Jones, who made two Pro Bowls in his first five seasons and won a Super Bowl in 2019. ....
