BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - The Biloxi Islamic Center teamed up with Gulfportâs Morning Star Baptist Church and Extend a Hand Help a Friend to host a food drive-thru giveaway.
Directors said the organizations had over 300 boxes of food to give away. Weâre told the food items included, fresh produce, meat, bread, and dessert.
Organizers explained that the point of the food drive was to reach communities that may not have as many resources than others. One of the centerâs members, Shaheed Ali, said heâs proud to help people in the community who may need food during trying times.

BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - Beau Rivage Resort & Casinoâs loading dock usually isnât full of bottled water, but for the stateâs capitol, it made an exception.
The casino partnered with and Extend a Hand Help a Friend in Gulfport to give bottled water to those in Jackson without it. Jackson residents have been without water for more than two weeks due to winter storms.

GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - A Gulf Coast group has stepped in to help people in the capital city after last weekâs winter storm. Volunteers with Extend a Hand Help a Friend left early Wednesday morning to deliver water to Jackson to help thousands of people who still donât have a steady supply of drinking water.
Earlier this week, State Rep. Sonya Williams Barnes contacted the group, asking them if they could organize a water donation drive.
