New Coldstream Campus Research Lab to Support Early Stage, High-Tech Companies

On Tuesday, Gov. Andy Beshear congratulated the University of Kentucky and its partners on breaking ground for a high-tech building at UK’s Coldstream Research Campus, a $15 million development to provide office and laboratory space for early stage, high-tech companies. Known as “The Core – Collaboration. Research. Entrepreneurship.” the new facility will be an entry-level resource for companies looking to locate on the research campus. The project is supported by a $500,000 matching grant through the Product Development Initiative (PDI), a statewide investment program created to help communities supplement site or building improvement projects. “An important part of securing a brighter future for Kentuckians is our ability to establish Kentucky as a premier destination for high-tech businesses,” Gov. The university says the new project at its Coldstream Research Campus will offer young companies office and laboratory space to develop. The new 40,000-square foot facility will be named The Core, or Collaboration. Research. Entrepreneurship.  It is scheduled to be finished in early 2022. The new lab on UK’s Coldstream Research Campus will offer early-stage companies office and lab space in an environment where they can further develop and commercialize their products and services. Construction is expected to be completed in early 2022.
