POPLARVILLE, Miss. (PRCC Athletics) - There are seemingly very few sure things in life: Death, taxes and the Pearl River menâs basketball team in the Region XXIII semifinals. Coach Chris Oneyâs 11th-ranked Wildcats overcame an early deficit Tuesday to stamp their ticket to Clinton by toppling visiting Northwest 68-56 inside Marvin R. White Coliseum.
The victory sends the top-seeded Wildcats back to the regionâs âfinal fourâ for a fourth straight season.

POPLARVILLE, Miss. (PRCC Athletics) - The No. 9 Pearl River menâs basketball team cruised to victory in its road contest against rival Gulf Coast on Monday, winning 78-49. The win marked head coach Chris Oneyâs 100th win at the helm of Wildcat basketball. Following the lopsided win, Oney downplayed the milestone and was already looking ahead.
âI was just hoping I wouldnât get fired (that first season), and now you look up and Iâve won 100 of them,â Oney said. âIâm excited about it, but we are going to celebrate it for 24 hours and move on.â

POPLARVILLE, Miss. (PRCC Athletics) - No. 9 Pearl River handed the MACCCâs lone undefeated team its first loss Monday night when the Wildcats left little doubt which was the better team inside Marvin R. White Coliseum.
Despite playing with a shortened roster, the Wildcats trailed only momentarily in its 73-58 victory.
âI told the guys after the last the game, âMan Iâve been through it. I know I look young and vibrant, but Iâve been coaching for some years now, and Iâve been fortunate to win some games and championships that I am very proud of,â Pearl River coach Chris Oney said. âI told them after the Co-Lin game that was the proudest of a team that I have ever been. No. 4 Pearl River pulled out another win Thursday night when they defeated rival Gulf Coast 75-69. The win is the Wildcats third in a row over the Bulldogs and 33rd overall.
No. 5 Pearl River kept two streaks alive Thursday night inside Marvin R. White Coliseum. Not only did Coach Chris Oney’s Wildcats top visiting Copiah-Lincoln 77-63 to claim their 32nd straight win overall, but PRCC also extended its winning streak against the Wolves to 16.
