The Grahamstown National Arts Festival will go online for the second year considering the lockdown in the country.

For all our theatre-lovers, the live performance goers, and the overall performing arts fanatics, the National Arts Festival, which usually takes place in Grahamstown, will be hosted online for the second time this year from July 8 - 31 July.
Before COVID-19, one would easily run into famous on and off-screen actors in the country. Bands like Freshlyground, who performed at 2019 s festival, also visit the small town in the Eastern Cape for two weeks of the country s biggest artists event.

Judith Sephuma prepares to serenade fans in online JazzFix series

The queen of Afrojazz, Judith Sephuma, is ready to set the stage alight at JazzFix, with a virtual concert featuring never-before-seen footage from her sold-out 2017 performance at the Cape Town Jazz Festival.
JazzFix, a new virtual series of music concerts, is the brainchild of the producers of the award-winning Cape Town International Jazz Festival (CTIJF).
Sephuma is the second artist to be showcased this March, following a successful debut by South Africa’s legendary guitarist and Grammy Award-nominated artist, Jonathan Butler, whose virtual concert took place on February 27.

Sumeet Sarkar is an Emmy Award-winning violinist, composer and orchestral manager of the MIT Orchestra with multi-Grammy winning artist Jacob Collier. He is an active film composer based in Los Angeles with works released on Netflix, Apple TV and Amazon including the 2020 Emmy Nominated Documentary Home and the Ruth Bader Ginsburg Documentary. His recent works aim at music therapy for mental health awareness through ambient and orchestral compositions.
Assisting Sumeet Sarkar and the Orchestra, Mr. Smithers will join as a co-writer, producer, mix engineer and studio guitarist include:
Cymatic Chronicles Vol. 3 – a full-length album dedicated to mental health awareness and the issues surrounding it. Its purpose is to provide support to those dealing with such issues, meaning that we would need to approach the music as such.
