Life really is short and being in love and seeking romantic companionship plays a big part in many people’s lives. With queer acceptance becoming more and more normalised it has also allowed more members of the LGBTQIA+ community to find love and be loved openly. While many people still subscribe to the concept of monogamy, a growing number of individuals have gone for a more unconventional route. Whether it be polyamory, open relationships or a throuple, love in the queer community comes in various shapes and sizes, and for our third issue we wanted to unpack this.

SA’s first gay romcom is a ’fun, uplifting celebration of love and identity’ By Sam Spiller Share Cape Town - Romance, identity, and being true to yourself are at the forefront of South Africa’s first gay romantic comedy film. No Hiding Here , which centres on a male couple coming to grips with the world after secrets are revealed, was released on Thursday. For writer and director Gabe Gabriel, the film presented an opportunity to depict and normalise the experiences of queer people. “It was imperative to me to strike a balance here though,” he explained. “I’m not a fan of content that ignores or down-plays queerness but I knew I wanted to write a story that features multiple queer characters at different stages of self-discovery for a myriad of reasons.”
