CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - The Cape Girardeau Public Library and the City of Cape Giradeauâs Parks and Recreation department have teamed up to provide Wi-Fi in many of the area parks.
New Wi-Fi access points have been installed in Shawnee Park, Indian Park, Capaha Park, Arena Park, Kiwanis Park, Ranney Park and Washington Park.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - The Cape Girardeau City Council held a meeting on March 15.
Cape Girardeau Police Chief Wes Blair presented the 2020 violent crime statistics to the council.
Despite national trends showing crime on the increase during the pandemic year of 2020, Cape saw fewer violent crimes, fewer traffic accidents, and calls for service were also down.
The number of murders in Cape dropped by 50 percent year to year.
Only three were reported in 2020.

Cape Girardeau Public Library celebrates Black writers and illustrators

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (WSIL) The Cape Girardeau Public Library is showcasing Black writers and illustrators to celebrate Black History Month.
The public is invited to join a month s worth of events including book talks for adults, which will take place twice a week on Facebook.
Readers can also join the library s online book club and participate in this month s theme. Continuing our programs in whatever way we can has been our way of holding on to that little bit of normal and holding on to the community and keeping us all together, said adult programming coordinator Cathy Lopez.
