Katie Koestner, founder of Take Back The Night Foundation, presented a webinar titled No-Yes: Consent, Relationships and the Katie Koestner Story through Penn State Harrisburg Wednesday night where she discussed âthe worst night of her lifeâ as a rape survivor.
Take Back The Night Foundation is a nonprofit that combats sexual violence and violence against women. It aims to âcreate safe communities and respectful relationships through awareness events and initiatives,â according to its website.
Growing up in Atlanta, she moved to Harrisburg and went to Cumberland Valley High School. When she graduated, she went to William & Mary College to pursue degrees in chemical engineering and Japanese.
With two weeks left in the semester, there are still plenty of things for students to do to close out the semester and wind down.
Additionally, April is Pride Month at Penn State, and the university is celebrating the month with a variety of events.
Tuesday, April 20
7:30 p.m. â Penn State Centre Stage Virtual will present a virtual rendition of Shakespeareâs âRomeo and Juliet.â Director Steve Snyderâs production will stream for all five acts. The play will be available here.
Wednesday, April 21
Students in Penn Stateâs HM430 â a class designed to educate students on food production and service management â will prepare a variety of cinema-inspired dishes in Cafe Laura. The student-run cafe will take reservations for dine-in, but takeout is available for those who want to enjoy the food at their convenience.

Katie Koestner, founder of the Take Back the Night Foundation, an international organization working to end sexual violence, support survivors and raise awareness, will share her story with the Penn State community during a free, virtual event at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 21. No-Yes: Consent, Relationships and the Katie Koestner Story is open to the entire Penn State community and supported by the Penn State Harrisburg Student Initiated Fee and Penn State University Police and Public Safety as a Take Back the Night event.
