Randwick trainer John Thompson has revealed his recently retired mare Sweet Deal will make an unexpected return this spring due to the $2 million carrot of The Invitation.
On Friday Racing NSW announced a new race on the calendar this year, The Invitation, a $2 million fillies and mares contest run under set weight and penalty conditions over 1400 metres at Randwick on October 23.
“The field for “The Invitation
” will exclusively comprise 12 starters invited by a panel convened by Racing NSW,” the Racing NSW release read.

Not so long ago a trainer could bring an above average horse to the races at this time of the year and bank on a win.
Matthew Smith’s Zoustar three-year-old Astero is certainly a horse who is going places after establishing a handy record so far.

Race caller Brett Davis summed up the Listed Adelaide Guineas the best when he said as CHERRY TORTONI (Night Of thunder – Tortoni) eased down near home, “he is a different class.”
Todd Pannell rode the Victorian who was a $2 chance with Sportsbet and he rode him as if he was Winx.
After jumping out well Pannell then allowed him to just find his rhythm without any urgings at all.
He stayed out of trouble in the three wide lane all the way and when the confident hoop kicked him up, he circled the field with consummate ease then just exploded away.
