The DMK on Saturday moved forward in its ongoing seat-sharing exercise with allies by giving six seats to MDMK though a deal with the Congress and CPI(M) was elusive, while the ruling AIADMK s negotiations with DMDK remained inconclusive. The MDMK would, however, contest on the rising sun symbol of its partner DMK according to the pact inked today by the leadership of both parties. This is the first time the MDMK would face the Tamil Nadu Assembly election together with the DMK since it was founded in 1994 after Vaiko was ousted from the then M Karunanidhi-led DMK. Vaiko, when asked if his party has given a list of preferred constituencies to DMK, said no.

Chennai (Tamil Nadu), March 6 (ANI): The second round of seat-sharing talks between CPI (M) and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) for Tamil Nadu Assembly polls remained inconclusive.
CPI (M) state general secretary K Balakrishnan, other party members G Ramakrishnan and Mahendran met DMK leaders at the DMK headquarters in Arivalayam on Saturday. CPI (M) and DMK delegations have discussed the seat-sharing in today s meeting. Both parties have asked for their required number of seats , Balakrishnan said after the meeting with the DMK leaders.

CHENNAI: After holding a second round of talks with DMK’s seat sharing committee, state CPM secretary K Balakrishnan on Saturday expressed disappointment over the proposed number of seats to the party for the assembly polls and said it was ‘inadequate.’
“On behalf of DMK, the seat sharing committee proposed a number. It is inadequate for us and we have expressed our demands. They said that they will get back after talking to their leader M K Stalin,” said Balakrishnan.
He added that the party would take decisions after discussing the ongoing seat-sharing talks with the leading partner in their party executive committee meeting.

Chennai: All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC) convenor K Balakrishnan has claimed that he was put under house arrest for the last three days in the wake of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Chennai on Sunday.
Balakrishnan told TOI that the committee had spoken to police regarding a small protest, however, it decided not to organise it.
A team of police officers had visited Balakrishnan’s home in Chennai’s Palavanthangal three days ago.
