X-Factor! Some UFC Vegas 18 main card predictions

This weekend (Sat., Feb. 6, 2021), Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will return to UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, after a trio of events in Abu Dhabi. Though subject to extreme change, the card as it stands is a lot of fun: Alistair Overeem will look to continue his unlikely final charge toward the Heavyweight crown opposite Alexander Volkov, and Frankie Edgar will attempt a similar veteran vs. (relative) young gun victory over Cory Sandhagen. Even more fortunate, the rest of the main card is compelling, filled with talented veterans and prospects.

Cody Stamann has a new opponent for this weekend.
MMA Fighting confirmed with sources with knowledge of the change that Stamann (19-3-1) will now fight Askar Askar (11-1) in a bantamweight bout at UFC Vegas 18 on Saturday, following the withdrawal of Stamann’s originally scheduled opponent Andre Ewell due to Ewell testing positive for COVID-19.
The new matchup was first reported by Bloody Canvas.
According to a statement from Ewell’s manager Matt Dodge, the fighter has since tested negative in back-to-back tests, but has to quarantine for 10 days in accordance with UFC health and safety protocol. That time frame forced his removal from Saturday’s card.

BassFan Senior Editor Kevin Wirth walked away from competitive fishing after the 2012 Bassmaster Classic the 11th straight he d qualified for and didn t look back for 8 years. Now the equine dentist and former Kentucky Derby jockey is back in the saddle, so to speak.
The Kentuckian fished seven BFLs in 2020, including three at Old Hickory Lake the site of his 2008 Bassmaster Elite Series victory. With a top finish of 11th place, his results weren t eye-popping, but the 58-year-old was pleased with the way he held up to the rigors of a long tournament day.
