We, US citizens and permanent residents of Ethiopian descent representing the civil organizations listed hereunder, are deeply concerned about the press statements the Department of State has been issuing regarding the unfolding situation in Ethiopia. As you are no doubt aware, policy pronouncements originating from your office have significant reverberations, implications and consequences even in the remotest corners of the world especially in countries, like Ethiopia, which are in the grip of crises.
The latest Readout from the Office of the Department’s Spokesperson, Mr Ned Price, regarding your telephone call to Prime Minister Abiy calls for, inter alia, the “complete withdrawal of Eritrean and Amhara forces from Tigray” and “an affirmation that neither the internal nor external borders of Ethiopia will be changed by force or in contravention of the constitution.”

On behalf of the undersigned taxpayer, free-market, and consumer advocacy organizations, we ask you to prioritize and pass a number of tax relief measures this year that will aid in America’s economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Pro-growth tax policy that boosts GDP, jobs, and wages should be a legislative priority at any time but has taken on an added importance as policymakers look to help businesses and workers return to the economic gains of the pre-COVID U.S. economy.
Specifically, we hope your Committees and Congressional leadership will prioritize the following this year:

Officer Brian Sicknick s remains were carried out of the Capitol by an honor guard on Wednesday
Dozens of officers lined up and saluted Sicknick s ashes as they departed for Arlington National Cemetery
The procession took place after a Congressional ceremony memorializing Sicknick was held in the Rotunda
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer delivered remarks, telling of how he met with Sicknick s family and condemning the violence that led to the officer s death
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi then took the podium, heralding Sicknick s heroism and service to his country
Sicknick s parents Gladys and Charles sat in the front row holding back tears through the ceremony
