Public Health Scotland publishes a map showing the locations of new cases in the Borders and other council areas in the country THE number of coronavirus cases per 100,000 of the population in the Borders has increased in the last week. According to data collated by Public Health Scotland, the seven-day positive case rate for February 14-20 is 39 per 100,000 (based on 45 new cases). As reported on February 15, the seven-day rate for February 6-12 was 27.7 per 100,000. Over the same time period, 26 out of 30 areas in the Borders reported fewer than three confirmed cases of coronavirus. However, according to the figures published today (Tuesday, February 23), this has now dropped to 24 out of 30.

Between February 6 and 12, the Borders recorded 32 cases – which is a seven-day case rate of 27.7 per 100,000 of the population. This is down from a rate of 51.9 per 100,000, based on the period from February 2-8. Public Health Scotland has also created an interactive map showing 30 neighbourhoods in the Borders.

AN INTERACTIVE map reveals which areas of the Borders have been least affected by coronavirus in recent days. The Public Health Scotland tool shows the number of cases per 100,000 population, over a seven-day period. The Borders figures are broken down into 30 neighbourhoods. And it shows that 11 communities have recorded between zero and two cases in the most recent seven-day period (January 17-23). They are: Tweeddale East; Peebles South; Peebles North; Lauder; Kelso South; Galashiels West; Ettrick, Yarrow and Lilliesleaf; Coldstream; Chirnside; Cheviot West and Berwickshire Central.
