Wildlife officers have killed a second crocodile after it was seen with possible human remains in its mouth in the wake of far north Queensland boatie Andrew Heard’s disappearance.
The Department of Environment and Science confirmed on Monday morning that officers had euthanised a nearly-three-metre crocodile in the area around Hinchinbrook Island, where Mr Heard disappeared.
The Cairns boating community described Andrew Heard as an “all-round legendary bloke”.

Authorities have confirmed that human remains were found in a crocodile that was killed in far north Queensland as part of the search for a missing fisherman.
Queensland wildlife officers shot the 4.2-metre animal after it was captured yesterday near Hinchinbrook Island.
The Cairns boating community described Andrew Heard as an âall round legendary blokeâ.

Squadron commodore John Stewart said boating community had been shaken by the horrific death of Mr Heard. Members of the Cairns Cruising Yacht Squadron at Portsmith are mourning the loss of former club commodore and life member Andy Heard, who was suspected to be taken by a saltwater crocodile near Cardwell. Club members Trish Kay, Dale Williams, Jason Hedges, Dayna Russell, club commodore John Stewart, Andy Murray, Ebonee Read and Paul Roxson comfort each other in front of flags flying at half mast.
