LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 13, 2021) For 24 hours on Wednesday, April 21, more than 50 colleges, programs and causes at the University of Kentucky participated in the third university-wide giving day, “One Day for UK.”
Donors contributed 3,639 gifts for a total of $3,251,169 to more than 350 different funds at UK. This year’s digital giving day more than tripled the first year’s total. Student callers from the University of Kentucky Phonathon raised more than $12,000 on “One Day for UK” by calling alumni, parents and friends of the university throughout the day and encouraging them to make a gift to the UK cause they cared most about.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 21, 2021) The University of Kentucky’s giving day, “One Day for UK,” is today, Wednesday, April 21. The UK community is encouraged to participate in the 24-hour virtual event to help advance the university’s mission to improve people’s lives through excellence in education, research and creative work, service and health care. Throughout the one-day fundraising campaign, which is currently underway, donors can give to the college, program or cause of their choice.
“We have been planning for this day for months and we are excited to see what the UK community can do in one day,” says director of annual giving Andrew Palmer. “The resilience of our students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends is admirable and they have proven that anything is possible when we work together. Every gift we receive today will bring us one step closer to building a brighter future for this institution.”

For the University of Kentucky alumna and Paintsville, Kentucky native, these qualities were instilled at an early age. Planning for crops on her family’s farm in Eastern Kentucky, while managing schoolwork was no simple task and she wasn t to procrastinate.
Fast forward, Liebert, the executive vice president at PPG a global manufacturer of paints, coatings and specialty materials attributes her successful career to leaning in on these three p’s.
