Gov loosens some restrictions on large gatherings, reports 231 new COVID cases

Hopkinsville, KY, USA / WHOP 1230 AM | News Radio Apr 19, 2021 3:46 PM Governor Andy Beshear reported 231 new confirmed coronavirus cases in Kentucky Monday and he warns there could be a fourth wave that other states are seeing if a greater percentage of younger Kentuckians do not get vaccinated. There were more new cases last week than the prior week, but less than two weeks ago. Governor Beshear says the positivity rate is 3.46 percent and a fourth wave will come to Kentucky if the pace of Kentuckians choosing to be vaccinated doesn’t pick up. Approximately 1.65 million Kentuckians over half of the adult population have gotten at least their first dose and the vaccine’s effectiveness is showing, especially in long-term care facilities where there were no deaths Monday.

The driver of the SUV, identified as Luis Diego Gudino-Rivera, 23, and two passengers, Efrain Rivera-Mancha, 42, and Johnathan Contreras-Rivera, 29, all three from Dayton, were all pronounced dead at the scene, state police said in a media release Tuesday morning. Three others in the vehicle, who were not identified, were injured in the crash and taken to area hospitals for treatment. The conditions of the others injured were not released.
