Governor Andy Beshear reported 231 new confirmed coronavirus cases in Kentucky Monday and he warns there could be a fourth wave that other states are seeing if a greater percentage of younger Kentuckians do not get vaccinated.
There were more new cases last week than the prior week, but less than two weeks ago. Governor Beshear says the positivity rate is 3.46 percent and a fourth wave will come to Kentucky if the pace of Kentuckians choosing to be vaccinated doesn’t pick up.
Approximately 1.65 million Kentuckians over half of the adult population have gotten at least their first dose and the vaccine’s effectiveness is showing, especially in long-term care facilities where there were no deaths Monday.

Trainer Steve Asmussen said before the Arkansas Derby that Super Stock had been touting himself
Super Stock emerged in “fantastic” shape from his victory in the $1 million Arkansas Derby (G1) Saturday at Oaklawn in Hot Springs, Ark., Steve Asmussen, the colt s Hall of Fame trainer, said Sunday morning.
Super Stock is scheduled to be flown early this week to Kentucky, Asmussen said, where the Dialed In colt will join the trainer s string at Churchill Downs to begin preparing for the Kentucky Derby May 1.
Super Stock ($26.40) gave Asmussen his record-tying fifth Arkansas Derby victory, capturing the 1 1/8-mile race by 2 ½ lengths under Ricardo Santana Jr. Caddo River finished second, a head in front of 1-5 favorite and previously unbeaten Concert Tour.
