Renegade Theater Company’s shortened season leans local The local theater company, known for taking on experimental pieces, returns with three productions to round out 2021, including two that have ties to the community. Meet the Class of 2021 President s Award winners

by Rachel Stengel 14, 20 Seniors Goanio Chavarria, Dylan Erdelyi and Morgan Cerbone are this year’s President’s Award winners. The annual President s Award is given to three graduating seniors who have demonstrated exemplary academic and extracurricular achievements as well as service to Rider. The highly competitive selection process for the awards was led by Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Cindy Threatt and supported by faculty and staff who comprised the search committee. “All of this year’s President’s Award recipients are incredibly deserving of this honor,” Threatt says. “Goanio, Dylan and Morgan have all demonstrated outstanding leadership that has greatly impacted the experiences of their fellow students. Their contributions to the Rider community are valued and will have lasting effects.” 

David Parker: UAB Grad putting Theatre Dreams In Motion

David H. Parker’s “big dream” is in motion. Parker will graduate May 1 from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in performance and directing from the College of Arts and Sciences’ Department of Theatre. Their next destination is the University of California, Los Angeles, where they will pursue a Master of Fine Arts degree in theater directing on a full scholarship through UCLA’s Graduate Opportunity Fellowship beginning this fall. “Everything I aspired to but never thought I could realistically achieve 10 years ago led to UCLA, and now I’m getting paid to go,” Parker said. “So, by speaking my next big dream into the world, I, too, give that dream a pair of legs and a set of lungs.”

SPOTLIGHT ON WOMEN WRITING: PRISM S FESTIVAL OF NEW WORKS Seeks Submissions

The mission of St. Louis newest professional performing arts organization, Prism Theatre Company, is to promote the work of women and emerging artists, on stage and off, through the lens of theatre for the new world. They produce both new and classic works in an atmosphere of inclusivity, where artists from all walks of life can come together to explore our common humanity. Prism is creative collaboration, without the cliques. To that end, Prism is currently seeking submissions for new plays by women playwrights based in Missouri or Illinois for Spotlight on. Women Writing: Prism s Festival of New Works. Prism is accepting non-musical plays of any length that feature 2 - 15 characters.
