Top crash locations in Massachusetts: These intersections are most common spots for car crashes

Top crash locations in Massachusetts: These intersections are most common spots for car crashes Today 5:30 AM What’s the worst intersection in Massachusetts? Drivers surely can think of a treacherous intersection on their commute, or maybe even a location near their home. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation uses a methodology to rank the state’s intersections, weighing crashes that resulted in injuries higher than those that just left property damage. MassDOT’s most recent report, the 2017 Top Crash Locations Report, which was released in September, can be used as a first brush tool to evaluate top crash locations and improve road safety, according to the agency. The report focuses on intersections and is based on crashes entered into the Registry of Motor Vehicles’ Crash Data System.

"New Town Estate is a key part of town's social history"

Historic – Colchester Co-op’s first branch shop, on the corner of New Town Road and Kendall Road, which has been converted into flats as confirmed by the blue plaque (pictured below) In his first instalment about the history of Colchester’s “New Town Estate”, dating back to 1880, Sir Bob Russell stopped where his tour went from Winnock Road down Charles Street to Kendall Road. His descriptive walk now continues in this second and final instalment. THE New Town Estate, designed by James Goodey, who lived in the centre of his unique development of houses for “all classes” in Victorian Britain, featured among the 470 dwellings several corner shops, a public house (originally The Blue Boar but now The New Town Tavern), in Kendall Road, and The Royal Mortar, in Military Road.

Quick thinking saves family during fire

TEWKSBURY — Dec. 2 was just a regular Wednesday evening as Matt Pelletier drove to visit his girlfriend across town. As Pelletier came to the intersection of Livingston Street and Kendall Road, he glanced at a home he looks at every day, but something was different this time. “I noticed a small fire on the front porch,” Pelletier said. Not sure exactly what he was seeing, Pelletier pulled over quickly and put on his hazards just as a gust of wind fueled and spread the flames. Pelletier acted quickly. “I jumped out of my car and ran to the front porch and banged on the door and rang the doorbell,” he said.
