Cedar Bluffs SkillsUSA students raise more than $6,000 with tractor raffle

COLLIN SPILINEK Fremont Tribune In donating a 1949 Farmall Model H tractor to Cedar Bluffs Public Schools in 2018, it was the late Jack Nitz’s wish for the students to restore it and he’d auction it off. Wanting for the students to be involved and see the project through, Cedar Bluffs SkillsUSA Adviser Garrett Zink came up with a different idea. “We decided that we would get the kids involved in selling raffle tickets and kind of promoting our tractor,” he said. “We actually ended up raising more money than we estimated we would have at an auction.” After more than two years of hard work, students at Cedar Bluffs, including the SkillsUSA chapter, finally finished the tractor’s restoration and had a raffle to give it away, raising $6,610 for the school.

Woodworker s injuries update: Auctioneer denies liability for malfunctioning wood chipper

MEDIA – A New Jersey auctioneer denies liability for injuries sustained by a Delaware County man who was hit with debris from a wood chipper and then sued the companies who sold him the device, while levying cross-claims and counterclaims against its co-defendants. Edgar Jones of Media initially filed suit in the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas on Oct. 30 versus Jaflo, Inc. and Jaflo Trees, LLC of Allentown, plus J.J. Kane Associates, Inc. and J.J. Kane Associates Auctioneers, LLC, of Maple Shade, N.J. “At all times relevant hereto and prior to July 12, 2019, defendants Jaflo and J.J. Kane advertised for sale a wood chipping machine known as a 2014 Altec Environmental Products DC 1317 Disc Chipper. While operating, the rotating disc cutter on the subject wood chipper rotates inside the disc housing/disc cover and cuts the material placed into the machine and also discharges the cut material through the discharge chute,” the suit says.
