Rejection of public petition: Rep. Gbillah, Tiv nation demand apology from Deputy Speaker, Wase

The member representing Gwer East, Gwer West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Mark Gbillah and the Tiv nation in Benue State have demanded an apology from the Deputy Speaker of the House, Idris Wase for rejecting their petition against the federal government on the alleged take over of other ancestral lands.
It will be recalled that Gbillah had at plenary on Wednesday presented a petition from the Tiv petition resident in the United States.

Nigerians in Diaspora worldwide have risen in unison against the utterances made by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ahmed Idris Wase during the presentation of a petition at plenary, saying it has destroyed all the gains made from various engagements between the government and Nigerians in Diaspora in the last 20 years.

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ahmed Wase yesterday told the traditional rulers to adequately secure their territories, saying they have a role in securing the country.
Wase spoke when he received a memorandum for the reinstatement of the status of the traditional institution in the Nigerian constitution and establishing relevant bodies to give effect to its national roles.
The memorandum was presented by the Etsu Nupe and Chairman Coordinating Committee, National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria, Dr Yahaha Abubakar.
Wase who is also the chairman of the House Committee on the review of the 1999 Constitution gave hope of recognizing the contents of the document.

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ahmed Idris Wase has sacked one of his legislative aides, Tijjani Abubakar over some fraudulent activities.
A statement from his office on Tuesday said stated that Abubakar embarked on unwholesome activity where he used his position in the office to defraud ministries, departments and agencies, MDAs of government.
The statement, however, came on the heels of a report that the former aide resigned his office as against being sacked.
The statement read thus: “The attention of Chief of Staff to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dr Aminu Ibrahim Malle has been drawn to a purported resignation of a former legislative aide to the Deputy Speaker by the name Ahmed Tijjani Abubakar.
