Discovery Center of Idaho - The Discovery Center of Idaho is interactive entertaining fun with learning along the way through, you guessed it discovery. Exhibits are always changing, but some favorites in the kids area stay put for the most part. It ecitivieses to check back regularly since there will always be new things for you and your kids to explore. They just opened their Titanic Exhibit which I talked about a a few weeks ago. Gov. Brad Little appointed three commissioners to Serve Idaho, the Governor’s Commission on Service and Volunteerism, in October. The new commissioners are Hillary Blackstone, Mat Erpelding and Katie Mathias, all of Boise. The three join the existing organization of 15 governor-appointed commissioners whose mission is: “To inspire and recognize volunteers and empower communities through service and AmeriCorps to solve Idaho’s unmet needs.”
Blackstone works for the Idaho State Department of Education as a program specialist for the 21st Century Community Learning Centers. She previously worked for the Boys and Girls Club of Ada County and for the city of Meridian. Jesse Treeâs to host first annual âHoused for the Holidaysâ Thursday
Local housing advocate and nonprofit Jesse Tree is inviting the community to celebrate its accomplishments and âkick off the holiday season with jazz music, charcuterie and cocktailsâ at Housed for the Holidays on Thursday.
The online event (hosted on YouTube) will feature a presentation about preventing eviction and the housing crisis, and a look at Jesse Treeâs 2020 accomplishments with Executive Director, Ali Rabe.
A live conversation with Dr. David Pate, former CEO and president of St. Lukeâs Health System, about the health importance of safe and reliable housing, especially during a pandemic, is also planned.
