Stock up Irish crystal â and Orla Kiely mugs
If you want a peep at a representative range of mainstream Irish design, then look no further than Kilkenny, a long-standing commercial on Nassau Street. This is the largest design emporium in the city, exploding with colour and glinting with expensive glass: you just won t find such a range of Irish goods elsewhere; and it s a good and invaluable spot for gift shopping. Brands assembled here include Waterford Crystal, Newbridge Silverware, Orla Kiely, Kiltrea Bridge Pottery, Foxford Weavers, and Stephen Pearse Pottery. Upstairs, there s a pleasant café overlooking the cricket fields of Trinity College.
KILMACOLM Community Council helped to spread Christmas cheer by raising £720 for good causes. Councillor David Wilson did the honours by helping out with the draw for the annual Christmas hamper raffle. Chair Mike Jefferis said: We normally put together a hamper of Christmas goodies each year and the proceeds are for charitable enterprises. In the past couple of years we have funded a defibrillator in the village but we have raised enough money to pay for the annual servicing for the next few years. This year the amount raised has been split between scouts, guides and Inverclyde Food/Toybank. Mr Jefferis said: We were hoping to raise about £150 but thanks to the generosity of the people of Kilmacolm the final total to be distributed was £720.
