Westchester officials give advice for Memorial Day gatherings with COVID-19 cases on the decline

Westchester County is seeing record-low numbers of COVID-19 cases, just in time for Memorial Day weekend.
County Executive George Latimer says there are currently 614 active cases in Westchester, which is half the number reported just two weeks ago.
While cases are going down and vaccinations are going up, Latimer and Health Commissioner Dr. Sherlita Amler are reminding people that we are not in the clear yet.
If you plan on having a get-together this weekend with vaccinated and unvaccinated people, they recommend you stay outside and social distance.

With state COVID-19 restrictions easing up, what do you need to know going into Memorial Day weekend? The world is changing we are asking people to use common sense. Our two beaches are opening again, wearing masks on lines to get food, and in the next few weeks restrictions easing even more, said Peter Tartaglia, Westchester County park first deputy commissioner.
