The Peninsula Doha: The Quranic Botanic Garden (QBG), the first garden in the world to exhibit all plant species mentioned in the Holy Quran, Hadith, and Sunnah, marked United Nations World Day to Combat Desertification And Drought recently, with a wild desert plant restoration event at Rawdat Al Faras in Al Nasraniya. In celebration of this day, QBG planted 15 trees of the Samor, Salma and Sidr varieties in their natural habitats, all of which are mentioned in the Holy Qur’an and Hadith and native to the Rawdat ecosystem at the Rawdat Al Faras restoration site. The seeds for these plants were collected from environmental areas in Qatar that face the pressures of land degradation, camping, grazing, and infrastructure development and then germinated and propagated by the

QBG webinar highlights plant conservation, food security initiatives  15 May 2021 - 7:25 The Peninsula Doha: The Quranic Botanic Garden (QBG) recently hosted a highly informative online discussion titled, ‘The Importance of Local Initiatives for Plant Conservation and Food Security’.  The interactive session, moderated by renowned Qatar Radio anchor Buthaina Abdul Jalil, featured QBG Assistant Research Ahmed El-Gharib and several other environmental experts from around Qatar, who shared their expertise and experiences in plant cultivation, agriculture, and biodiversity.  Other discussion topics included the conservation and propagation of fungal plants, home farming, and the importance of food security initiatives. QF’s Quranic Botanic Garden winds up Ramadan activities  13 May 2021 - 5:01 The Peninsula Doha: Qatar Foundation’s Quranic Botanic Garden (QBG), the first garden in the world to exhibit all plant species mentioned in the Holy Quran, Hadith and Sunnah, hosted a wide range of virtual community-oriented activities during the Holy Month of Ramadan. One of the highlights was QBG’s daily Ramadan competition, where keen botanists and gardeners of all ages could win prizes by answering questions on QBG’s social media pages about verses in the Hadith related to environmental and botanical terminology. This month, QBG also announced the winners of its Fun and Learn, Environment Research and Food Security competitions. QF’s QBG concludes environmental awareness educational programmes  17 Apr 2021 - 8:11 A virtual workshop on food security. The Peninsula Doha: The Quranic Botanic Garden (QBG) has concluded its 2020- 2021 Fun and Learn, Young Botanist, and Food Security educational programmes helping young people devise solutions to some of Qatar’s most pressing environmental challenges through dedicated online workshops, interactive discussions with QBG experts and competitions. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, QBG held its Fun and Learn programme for children between 6 and 12 years virtually through social media. Designed to teach the younger generation about plants and the environment through a social media competition, the Fun and Learn programme aims to spread awareness of environmental action and the plants mentioned in Holy Qur’an, Hadith, and Sunnah.
