It was reported on last Thursday to the police after the beanie wearing man trawled the street naked near Alfred Street, Carlisle, exposing his genitals and looking into people s windows. One shocked resident who didn’t want to be named is warning others to be careful and thinks that he was trying to scare people. At first she had thought if was a ghost but now wants women to be cautious and make sure they lock their doors and windows. Councillor Louise Atkinson was shocked that something like this has happened. “ I really want to urge people to report this kind of thing and make sure the police are aware, she said.

A DETECTIVE has praised the courage of a Carlisle child rape victim whose abuser has been jailed for 20 years. The city s crown court heard that 71-year-old Harold Nicholson “terrified” his victim, threatening to kill her and other members of her family if she told anybody. She was just 11 when the rapes began, the court heard. Nicholson, of Holywell Crescent, Botcherby, denied the allegations. But he was convicted of raping the child five times - though prosecutors say it happened at least twice that many times.
