UD Alumni Association recognizes Blue Hen achievements
The University of Delaware Alumni Association announced the 2021 recipients of the Alumni Wall of Fame and the Outstanding Alumni Awards who, along with recipients of the Emalea Pusey Warner and Alexander J. Taylor Awards for Outstanding Seniors, will be honored at a virtual awards celebration on Saturday, June 5, during Virtual Alumni Weekend. The UD community, friends and families are invited to attend.
Their names will be inscribed on a wall in the Alumni Circle, located near the Carpenter Sports Building (Little Bob) on campus, which honors recipients of the awards as well as alumni volunteers and leaders who have made significant impacts at the University.
A Family Commitment to the Blue Hen Experience
On campus in the 1960s and â70s, Anita Crowley, EHD74, was not the average University of Delaware student. A woman in her 40s who was already busy as a homemaker, Crowley couldnât forget about her own degree, which she had started years earlier. She decided to return to school to finish her education. Eventually, she earned not only her bachelorâs but also her masterâs degree from UDâand then returned to campus after earning her doctorate to teach as an assistant professor.
âI never thought much of it when I was a little kid, but when I think of it now, I am amazed that my grandmother went back to school when she did,â said Brad Bono, AS91, a Delaware native whose mother also graduated from UD. âWe re four generations UD now.â
