A Texas Senate committee heard testimony this week on legislation that would extend a micro-grant program for special education students in public schools.
Senate Bill 1716 would continue an existing program that provides enrolled special education students with $1,500 stipends to fund supplemental special education services and materials.
The program is funded with federal COVID-19 relief funds, which lawmakers may need to revisit once the federal aid money runs out.
State Sen. Charles Perry, R-Lubbock, told the Texas Senate Committee on Education on Tuesday that the state has 17,000 eligible students, with 7,000 scholarships awarded so far.

San Francisco, Feb 23 : Facebook-owned photo-sharing platform Instagram is adding resources for people affected by eating disorders to its social platform.
If users search for hashtags or content that s potentially related to disordered eating, the company will guide that user to resources or help lines provided by the National Eating Disorders Association (or NEDA) in the US, as well as others in the UK, Australia and Canada.

If you re struggling with one, you can contact NEDA s support line, and if you re concerned about a family member, resources are available from the Families Empowered and Supporting Treatment of Eating Disorders organization, reports The Verge.
