K.N. Balagopal gets Finance and Industries and Law goes to P. Rajeeve Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan has retained the Home and Vigilance and IT portfolios held by him in previous LDF Ministry and has entrusted the crucial portfolios of Finance to K. N. Balagopal, Industries and Law to P. Rajeeve and Health, Family Welfare and Women and Child Welfare to Veena George.

Pinarayi to meet Governor on May 20.
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) State secretariat has reportedly finalised the allocation of Cabinet portfolios to Minister-designates in Kerala.
CPI(M) insiders were skittish about revealing the details of portfolio allocation. However, two (LDF) leaders gave the media an inkling of the confabulations behind closed doors at the AKG Centre here on Wednesday.

The State police actively dissuaded inessential travel on the second day of the lockdown on Sunday.
Law enforcers flagged down vehicles and challenged drivers and passengers to state their reason for travel. The clampdown on journeying will continue till May 16.
The police allowed people with appointments at hospitals and COVID-19 vaccination centres to proceed as usual.
Citizens travelling to attend weddings and funerals of close kin were also permitted.
The police fined and turned back persons they deemed had ventured out for frivolous reasons. Many bridled at such restrictions, resulting in heated arguments with officers.

The state government has sanctioned Rs 220.37 crores for the startup projects by Pravasis who have returned to the state after long years in foreign countries. In the financial year 2019-20, 1,043 entrepreneurs were sanctioned Rs 53.40 crores. This scheme was envisaged as a joint venture between NORKA and the Kerala Startup Mission to create self-employment opportunities for Pravasis who return to the state from abroad and who are planning a new journey as entrepreneurs.
