Stratford District Council is pleased to announce four Stratford District community members will be presented with a Citizens Award in 2021.
District Mayor Neil Volzke says year on year he’s impressed at the continued effort people put in to the wellbeing of the Stratford community.
The awards are an annual tradition that’s spanned over 30 years, inviting the community to share nominations for people that go that extra mile.

On Sunday, April 25, the Rebecca Boyce Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution held its annual Good Citizen Patriots’ Tea at the First Baptist Church in Waxahachie. Regent Vicki Williams welcomed the 75 members, guests and honorees in attendance.
Each high school in Ellis County was invited to choose their Good Citizen. This student exemplifies leadership, dependability, service and patriotism in their homes, schools and communities. Teachers and peers select the students because they demonstrate these qualities to an outstanding degree.
Once a student is chosen as the DAR Good Citizen from their school, they are invited to participate in the scholarship portion of the program. This consists of a personal statement and an essay about our American heritage and the responsibility of preserving it for future generations. A $1,000 scholarship is awarded to
Wyatt Harthorne and Delaney Greenlaw.

DYER BROOK, Maine RSU 50 Superintendent/Principal Jon Porter has announced the following students will be graduating with honors for the Class of 2021 from Southern Aroostook Community School.
Delaney Greenlaw and Wyatt Harthorne are graduating Magna Cum Laude (3.4-3.75 GPA).
Greenlaw, the daughter of Jill and Travis Hogan and Aaron Greenlaw, is a member of the Southern Aroostook Chapter of the National Honor Society. She was selected as a delegate to represent SACS at Dirigo Girls State; was chosen to attend the Hugh O’Brian Leadership Conference; and also earned the DAR Good Citizens Award Winner.

The DAR Good Citizens Award and Scholarship Contest, created in 1934, is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship. This award recognizes and rewards individuals who possess the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism in their homes, schools and communities.
