New Orleans Police Department reported nine homicides, 23 non-fatal shootings and fifteen armed robberies in the past two weeks. The latest murder, a woman stabbed to death Tuesday morning during a carjacking in the Seventh Ward. Portia Pollock's family confirmed she was on her way to work when the attack happened. Pollock's vehicle was reported missing from the scene. The vehicle is described as a dark-colored 2016 Honda HRV bearing Louisiana.

NEW ORLEANS Homemade barbecue with a side of antibodies was on the menu in the Lower 9th Ward Friday afternoon.
At 9th Ward NENA, which helps residents with real estate and financial literacy, the Lower Nine COVID-19 Response Team was handing out plates from The Smoking Oyster, boxes of groceries from Second Harvest, and COVID-19 vaccines with help from LCMC and Xavier University.

NEW ORLEANS Like many folks in New Orleans, city councilman Jay Banks is fed up with scenes like this.
“This is just totally frustrating,” said Banks. “This is going on way too much and the frequency of it seems to be increasing.”
Tuesday morning, a member of Banks’ family was added to the list of car break-in victims. Luckily, Banks says there were no weapons in the car, but keys were stolen.
